This lamp features a frame crafted from American Oak, measuring approximately 250 x 150, with Totara inserts. The Oak frame is finished with a soap treatment, while the Totara inserts are enhanced with Shellac/French polish. The design takes advantage of the natural patterns found in some Totara trees, a phenomenon known as Kaikaka. When illuminated, these patterns evoke the intricate visuals seen through a microscope, resembling the Xylem or water transport system of a plant. The Shellac finish accentuates the grain of the Totara, allowing the tree rings to be easily counted.
